SILK KIMONO
Taisho Era, meisen technique

Cubism was the term the Japanese used for all Western modern art, but in this case, the term fits accurately. This kimono, with its faceted geometric shapes, as in Cubism seems to represent our perception of objects as we move through space, creating an image that is dynamic rather than static.
